Glass jar is safe for home canning with two-piece home canning lid (sold separately). Shaker Caps are not intended for home canning.
Great idea with the opening. Have not used it for herbs - need to buy some first. Used it to shake up some salad dressing with fresh garlic: did well, if not completely tight on the opening. Think it will work well with herbs. Like the opening idea!
These will be great for not only for storing my own dried herbs or a new mix of herbs I can make myself - but these will be equally good for craft storage - especially beads. The glass for the jars are thick, although you can see through the glass clearly. The lids are heavy duty so shouldn't break and I love that the flip top lid stays open on it's own. Very handy. I may have to get some more.
Herb jars are super cute !! Perfect size for spices as well as dried herbs. Pouring holes are big, so not ideal for salt or pepper unless you are real careful. Labels do not stick well to the jars, even for a little bit. Other than that though these are great looking on your spice rack !!
Love the jars. They stack nicely in the small cabinet I have for them. However, the labels that come with the jars absolutely do not stick to them. They lift off and are just terrible.
These are made as well as the jars I've been using for 50+ years. I'm so tired of throwing away expensive spices because the containters do not keep them fresh. I've been buying fresh spices from The Spice Store (online) because I know the quality is far superior to anything in the grocery store. These jars keep the spices fresh until I use them up. Something I could never say about the store-bought products. I found a perfect shelf for them at The Container Store and mounted it next to the cooktop. I absolutely LOVE these containers. I'm sure they will save me more money than I paid for them during the time it takes to use up the first filling with each spice. HINT: order a few extra cards of the labels since you only get enough for one label on each jar. You never know when the mfg will change styles and you don't want your labels to be mismatched if the jars are on display.
