I have my mom's Blue Book Guild to Canning from the 1940s. The same quality info is in the new book as in the older one with the exception of some more updated recipes and methods. Recently I bought the new Jelly and Jam Maker. I would like to have seen some recipes in this book for use with my new "toy." When the Jelly and Jam Maker arrived it has some recipes, and I understand that this is a new and state of the art product. When the next edition of the Blue Book Guide to Preserving comes out, I'll be the first in line to get it.
This is a very helpful book, especially for a person new to preserving. It is very straightforward and has good step by step instructions.
All items were well packed and were received earlier than expected.
The Blue Book is an excellent guide for the first-time and regular canner. The instructional information is clear, well-written, and precise without being so technical as to be off-putting, either for water bath or pressure canning. There are many recipes included that are surprisingly interesting and that cover many different types of diets. The only down side is that there is not more information about changing recipes or creating original ones. Overall, this is a bible of a book, one that will be used for generations. Thank you, Ball!
Always looking for new canning ideas, but no enchilada recipe, I've got one, so it's ok,I have the older canning ball book but it's starting to fall apart so I needed a new one
